Kidney Bean Burgers

People love burgers.

Vegans and non-vegans alike.

That’s why you can now make these tasty vegan kidney bean burger right at home.

They’re juicy, tasty, and a little smoky. And all you need are a few natural ingredients, such as oats, kidney beans, mushrooms and more.

The flavor comes from the soy sauce which adds a nice umami and salty element. The cumin and smoked paprika give an additional richness to the whole recipe.

You can decorate the burgers as you like, but you can never go wrong with lettuce, tomatoes, mustard and cucumber.

Feel free to be creative and adjust it as you like.

One thing that’s important is getting the right consistency of the dough.

If you feel the patty mixture is too wet and doesn’t stick well, add more oats until you reach the perfect consistency.

You can tell it’s right when you can form patties that will stick and keep their shape.

Make your own vegan kidney bean burgers at home. Tasty, easy to prepare and something that your friends will love. Enjoy.


  • For the burger patties
  • 1 onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 cup mushrooms, here shiitake
  • 4 spring onions
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups of cooked kidney beans
  • 2 cups fine oats
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • For the decoration
  • 2-4 wholewheat buns
  • 8 lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/4 cucumber
  • 2 tbsp spicy mustard



Mince the onions and garlic, cut the spring onions into small rings, cut the mushrooms into small pieces.


Bring a pan to medium heat, add the coconut oil, add the onions, garlic, shallots and mushrooms. Fry for 5 minutes at medium heat. Then, take off the heat.


In your blender, blend the black beans and add them to your mixing bowl. Add the oats, spices, and olive oil. Knead with your hands into a dough.


Add to a bowl. Now, form burger patties with your hands.


Bring your pan to medium heat with 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Add the patties and fry each side for around 6 minutes, until it becomes firm and brown.


Prepare your burgers: Add mustard to the buns, add the patties, decorate with rucola, tomatoes, sprouts.
